About the Teacher
Cameron Wilcox, native of Ooltewah, TN, began his musical training at age 6 with piano lessons from his mother and later took up violin at age 8 with Mr. Gene Lindauere. His passion for the violin grew through high school under the tutelage of Mrs. Ellen Francisco. After attending the AtFirstSight summer festival for seven years, he has developed a love for chamber music. He began playing viola in 2016 and has participated in various chamber ensembles with the instrument.
At Southern Adventist University, Cameron studied violin with Ms. Ann Rylands and Dr. Josh Holritz, serving as concertmaster of the university's Symphony Orchestra for four years. He performs with regional ensembles like the East Tennessee Symphony and His Symphony Orchestra. Cameron holds a Bachelor of Science in Violin Performance from Southern Adventist University and a Master's in Violin Performance from Columbus State University--at which he studied with Boris Abramov and Samuel Vargas.Â
Cameron began consistent violin instruction in January of 2019 and later started giving viola lessons in August of 2022. His experience with numerous mentors and exposure to a mixture of distinct teaching methods has developed a personal pedagogical approach.
